ANY AMOUNT IS A B’RAKHA

“So whenever you do tzadakah, do not sound a [shofar] before you as the hypocrites do.” (Matthew 6:2)

The Widow's Mite

The Temple at Jerusalem had thirteen “tzedakah boxes” or offering receptacles, some of which were dedicated to helping the poor. There is no historical record of shofars being sounded when people drop their coins in, but we do know that the boxes themselves were shofar-shaped. When self-righteous people arrived to make their contributions, they would dramatically plunk their coins into the opening, creating a clanging sound that everyone was sure to notice. But Yeshua calls us to be different.

“Then Yeshua looked up and saw the rich dropping their gifts into the treasury box. He also saw a poor widow dropping in two small copper coins. And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all the rest.” (Luke 21:1-4)

God does not bless gifts according to their size, but according to the spirit in which they’re given. Just as when Yeshua fed the multitudes, even the smallest contributions can be multiplied infinitely when offered in faith and humility. Please consider a gift to Our Father Abraham, no matter how large or small, and believe together with us in the power of God to multiply it for good.
